“2.00 is the Magic Number”
Epsom
Eagles monitor their teams in several ways.
This
website provides comprehensive information regarding fixtures, results, match
reports and squad details
In
addition teams are monitored on an AVERAGE POINTS PER GAME Basis.
Taking
traditional points awards (3 for win, 1 for draw and 0 for loss) and applying
this to all COMPETITIVE matches per team (League, Cup and where applicable friendlies), this give the club a sharp guide as to how a particular
team is performing. This allows the club to divert resources to help teams that
are struggling.
It is
the stated aim of the club to go into each game to win – fairly and squarely.
With this in mind, all teams are placed in leagues where they can compete to
the best of their ability. It is no fun for the players to be in a league where
they lose heavily each week. Equally it is no challenge where a team wins too
easily each week.
Having
made the right choice of league, it is then a club goal to see each team
achieve an average points score per game of 2.00 or above (See performance per
week and team results).
Generally
a team with avg 2.00 or above will be challenging for
(and winning) trophies at their level
– this is what Epsom Eagles teams are expected to do.
Across
the club we have another more ambitious goal – to raise the club-wide average points
per game across ALL Teams to 2.00. Season 2004/5 looks like ending on a
creditable 1.81. We strive to improve this towards 2.00 in 2005/6
